Goodbye, old blog

You served us well for three years. You stuck by us even when we neglected you. Thank you for showing off our pretty photos and getting us kick-butt SEO.

Yep, after many months (maybe even years?!) of me saying I was building a new blog, it’s finally true! Proof I wasn’t lying can be found here.  Update your bookmarks and check back often because we have LOTS of fun stuff planned over there :) This blog will stay up so our older work can still be found. The Grand Proposal

I’m sure those of you who follow our blog have noticed I’ve been absent, severely absent, for the past several months. I am currently designing a more functional and awesome NEW blog and in that process I’ve held off from blogging our latest weddings and sessions. Plus, the boudoir photography business, Blush Twin Cities: Bad-Ass Boudoir Photography, that I co-own with Jeannette Nargelenas has taken off this year so a lot of my time has been spent on that.

Our new Kage Imagery blog is being designed to be a combination of a personal blog & photography blog, and we cannot wait to launch it! So stay tuned and I hope to have an update very, very soon!

For now, I wanted to post about this awesome contest. Contest entries must be submitted by this FRIDAY, February 4th. The grand prize is $5000 worth of wedding services and includes $500 towards your photography package from us! So if you’re engaged, hurry and submit your story today for the chance to win fabulous prizes from talented vendors! And if you’re not currently engaged, be sure to share this with your friends who are! For more details about the contest and instructions on how to enter, visit the Make it Grand events page.

Contest winners will be announced at the Grand Proposal Wedding Fair being co-sponsored by Make it Grand! and the Wedding Shoppe on February 13th, 2011 from 12-4 p.m. We hope to see you all there!posterforblog

Meet William and Katie—the creative geniuses behind Oh Dier

A few weeks ago I met up with William & Katie to do a promotional photoshoot for their business, Oh Dier. Not only is this couple extremely photogenic, they are also over the top creative. By day, they are an architect and an editor, and by night, they manage their growing business. Based in Minnesota, these two create some of the coolest home decor around. Vintage inspired wooden signs, funky wooden toys, photographs from their travels, and unique graphic prints fill their online store. Even long before I did this shoot, I purchased a wooden bird and butterfly print from their etsy shop, both of which I absolutely adore. Recently, we had the chance to collaborate again when William beautifully crafted a custom made sign for our space at Make it Grand (pics of that coming soon!). When they contacted me to do an urban themed shoot to get promotional photographs for their new web site, I was thrilled!! Oh Dier’s wooden signs have many purposes, not only can they be used to decorate your home or office, they would make great decor for weddings or other celebrations which can then be hung in your home after the event! They can customize the pieces in the color of your choice, so incorporating your wedding colors into your artwork is a breeze.

Be sure to check out the Oh Dier web site to see more of their work (I promise you will want to add many items to your cart—I know I do!). Gene’o & I are planning in the process of buying a new home and we can’t wait to commission these guys for some funky artwork. When I was getting photos ready for their blog post I seriously wanted to post them all, but I was able to narrow it down to a few favorites to share here. Enjoy!OhDierBLOG-1OhDierBLOG-2OhDierBLOG-20 OhDierBLOG-19William and Katie gifted us one of these super AWESOME block bots! I love this little guy! He is sitting on a shelf in our living room, and someday I am going to add another one to my collection as well :)OhDierBLOG-4OhDierBLOG-5 OhDierBLOG-6OhDierBLOG-17-2 OhDierBLOG-15After we had some fun around downtown St. Paul, we headed up to Dayton's Bluff for some sunset photos. I got to play around with different lighting techniques. I'm glad we made it up there because these are some of my faves! You both rock and I can’t wait to see your business grow :)

Sarah & Rich {married!}

Back in August, Gene’o & I traveled to Hillsdale, WI to shoot Sarah & Rich’s wedding at the Enchanted Barn. I had wanted to shoot a wedding there for a long time because that was one of the places we were considering having our own wedding! Though I had never been there in person, I had seen their web site and was super excited to finally have a wedding there. Rich and Sarah are awesome. They are kind, genuine people and we couldn’t ask for better clients! Enjoy some of the photos from their beautiful countryside wedding.
